1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of ASL a Day at asladay.com (“ASL a Day”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. Using ASL a Day

ASL a Day is a free tool for practising the American Sign Language fingerspelling alphabet. You may use it for your own learning and teaching. Please don't:

• try to break, overload or get around the security of the site or its API;
• scrape or copy the site in bulk, or resell it or its content;
• use it in a way that breaks the law or harms other people.

We may change, pause or stop any part of the site at any time.

3. Privacy

You can practise the alphabet without an account, and the camera video never leaves your device. Practising the word decks needs you to sign in with Google. What ASL a Day keeps, and why, is set out in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

4. Content and licences

The site's design, text and code belong to ASL a Day. The handshape drawings are public domain, from Wikimedia Commons (originally wpclipart.com). Hand tracking uses Google's MediaPipe (Apache License 2.0).

5. Accuracy

The camera check is automatic and can be wrong: it may accept a handshape that isn't quite right, or miss one that is. ASL a Day is a practice aid for the fingerspelling alphabet, not a substitute for learning ASL from Deaf teachers and the Deaf community.

6. No warranty

ASL a Day is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or that your progress will never be lost.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ASL a Day will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the site.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new terms.
