How to sign G in ASL

Point your index finger and thumb sideways, parallel, with the other fingers curled.

Hold G steady for a moment. It points sideways, which is part of what makes it G.

Left-handed? Sign with your dominant hand; the shapes are the same, mirrored.

Don't mix it up

H: H adds the middle finger alongside the index finger; G uses the index finger alone, with the thumb parallel.
Q: Q is the G handshape turned to point down.
